Ball State Favored In Men's Tennis Poll

Cleveland, Ohio -- Ball State, in a close vote, has been selected by league head coaches to capture the 2006 Mid-American Conference championship in men's tennis. The Cardinals received a total of 34 points to edge Western Michigan, which earned 32 points in the preseason poll.

Toledo, Northern Illinois, Buffalo and IPFW were tabbed to finish third, fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, in close numbers.

In voting for the MAC Tournament, WMU and BSU each received three votes to win the MAC Tournament.

Returning All-MAC selections from last year are Matt Baccarani and Patrick Thompson of Ball State, Jose Orozco, Brady Crosby and Tim Bradshaw of Western Michigan and Mike Rockman of Buffalo.

MAC regular season competition begins February 24 and the league tournament is slated for April 27-30 in Toledo, Ohio.
