MAC Gymnast of the Week
Leah Johnson
Northern Illinois
Fr. (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South)
Johnson began her career by tying for first place in the all-around as she matched Illinois-Chicago's Annie Kachman with a 38.725 total. Individually, Johnson was also tied for third on the vault with a 9.750 and placed third for the balance beam with a 9.750 as well. She tied for eighth on floor exercise with a 9.650 and was eighth individually on the uneven parallel bars with a 9.575 total.

MAC Specialist of the Week
Jennifer Sturgis
Western Michigan
Jr. (Novi, Mich./Novi)
Sturgis claimed first place for the Broncos on beam after earning a top score of 9.825 at Michigan State on Jan. 14. The high score of 9.825 was a personal best for Sturgis. Sturgis placed first out of 18 gymnasts.

Sr. (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne)
Guyer scored 9.725 on the vault finishing first. She also finished fourth on the floor and fifth on the beam.

Carrie Mayle
Kent State
Sr.(Fremont, Ohio/St. Joseph's Central Catholic)
Mayle led the Flashes to a second place finish at the All-Ohio Championship. She finshed second with a composite score of 38.325 in the all-around competition. Mayle also took home the first place crown on the balance beam with a mark of 9.650, second on vault (9.700), fifth on bars (9.625) and eleventh on floor 9.350.
