MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Matt Baccarani - Ball State
Senior - Toronto, Ontario/Silverthorn C.I.
Baccarani improved his 2005-06 overall singles record to 20-7 and to 10-4 at the No. 1 singles position after easily sliding past Buffalo's Mike Rockman in a straight-set 6-3, 6-2 victory last Saturday. The win helped the Cardinals seal a 7-0 sweep over the Bulls and gave BSU its first MAC win of the season. Baccarani also teamed with Joe Epkey at the No. 1 doubles position and the tandem added to their undefeated record after only giving up one game in an 8-1 win over Nikesh Singh Panthlia and Yules Hadisubroto. Baccarani and Epkey maintain a 10-0 mark at the No. 1 doubles slot.

Brian Livingston - Northern Illinois
Freshman - Skokie, Ill./ Niles North H.S.
Livingston came on strong to snare a 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 over Southern Illinois standout Felipe Villasenor, the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week. Livingston continues to be the most consistent bright spot for NIU as he recorded his third straight win to improve his record to 6-4 in the top slot and 9-4 overall for spring dual meets.

Josh Moran - Toledo
Junior - Wadsworth, IL/Warren Township
Moran helped get the Rockets off to a 1-0 MAC start and stay undefeated at home with a dominating performance in singles and doubles vs. Buffalo. The junior played was moved up to second doubles with a new partner in Brian Rager and won 8-7 (2), helping the Rockets sweep the doubles matches. In singles, Moran steamrolled his opponent at fifth singles, winning 6-3, 6-0. UT now stands at 13-7 overall, its most wins since 1985 when it won 19.

Alex Birchmeier -Western Michigan
Sophomore - Midland, Mich./H.H. Dow
Went 3-0 for Western Michigan in matches against IPFW and Marquette over the weekend. In singles Birchmeier lost only four games in four sets all weekend. He defeated Hermann Kuschke of IPFW 6-1, 6-1 on Saturday at three singles to help the 2005-06 Broncos become only the seventh team in WMU history to win 20 matches and then won 6-0, 6-2 over Marquette's Brett Binkley on Sunday. He also teamed with Jose Orozco to defeat MU's Binkley and Eric Fleming 8-5.
