MAC Gymnast of the Week
Duyen Zu Vuong
Fr. (Ottawa, Ontario/DelaSalle)
Zu Vuong had another stellar performance against Bowling Green capturing her third all around title of the season with a total of 38.675. The cumulative score of 38.675 is her second highest all around total in her brief collegiate career. Individually, Vuong tied for second on the vault with a 9.725 and tied for third on the bars with a 9.625. The Ottawa, Ontario native also finished fourth on the beam (9.600) and tied for fourth on the floor (9.725).
Sr. (Columbus, Ohio /Worthington Kilbourne)
Guyer came through when it really counted tonight showing why she is a co-captain. With the team coming off a rough performance on beam and in a close meet she lead her team to a comeback on floor scoring a 9.850 good enough for first and a season high. She also finished fourth on vault with a 9.700.
Crawford posted scores of 9.700 or better on all three of her events for the second consecutive meet as CMU handed conference-leading Western Michigan its first MAC loss of the season on Saturday, 194.650-192.975. Crawford took second on the vault with a 9.825, finished tied for fourth on the balance beam with a 9.775, and tied for fifth on the floor exercise with a 9.725. Her vault score was the sixth time this season she topped 9.800 on that event, and was her 13th score over 9.800 this season.
Fr.(Smithville, MO / Smithville)
Naughton finished with the team's best individual score and tied for fifth overall with a 9.725 which essentially "vaulted" NIU past UIC for second place. In addition, she tied for third on the balance beam with a solid 9.750.
Sr. (Windsor, Ont /St. Joseph's Catholic)
Marier shined in her last MAC dual meet of the season at Central Michigan on March 18. Marier earned a first-place finish on floor (9.850) and took first place in the all-around competition with a career and season best 39.150. Despite the loss to the Chippewas, Marier helped the Broncos score a team high 192.975 while also helping the Brown & Gold to win the floor event over CMU 48.775. Marier scored a 9.750 on vault, 9.775 on bars and a 9.775 on beam to take the all-around honors.
MAC Specialist of the Week
Smith won both of her events as Central Michigan handed archrival Western Michigan its first loss in a conference dual meet this season, knocking off WMU194.650-192.975 on Saturday. Smith scored a pair of 9.850's on the vault and the uneven bars to claim the top spot on both events. She has now scored a
9.800 or higher on both vault and bars in three consecutive meets, and has 11 scores of 9.800 or higher on those two events this season.
Kenel stepped up and delivered a 9.725 winning first and boosting her team into a lead.

Bennett earned a first place finish on vault with a 9.800 in the Eagles' regular season finale at Bowling Green. It marked the fifth time this season that she has won the event and the seventh time in her career. Bennett also scored a 9.750 on the floor for a third place showing.
Sr. (Liberty, MO/Liberty)
In sharing first-place for the uneven parallel bars with Illinois' Krystal Macarek by scoring 9.750, Williams prevented an all-Illini sweep of first place for the four individual events plus all-around.
Jr. (Novi, Mich./Novi)
Sturgis was the high scorer on beam at Central Michigan on Saturday. Sturgis managed to tie her personal best on the beam after scoring a 9.850. Sturgis high score on beam helped the Broncos to the best league record in the MAC (5-1) and secure the top spot in the upcoming 2006 MAC Gymnastics Championship.
