Male Scholar Athlete of the Week: Dec. 20 - 26
Western Michigan Alex Wolf (basketball)
Alex Wolf (Sr., 3.32, civil engineering) came off the bench to spark Western Michigan in a 63-60 win over Idaho State to close out the 2010 World Vision Invitational. Wolf scored a season high 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, including going 2-for-3 from beyond the arc. Both three-point FGs were critical in the Broncos' win with the first coming on a fast break that pushed WMU's lead from one to four points. The second gave WMU its largest lead of the game at five points. It was the fourth time in Wolf's career that he has scored in double figures and the first time since scoring a career high 18 points against Ball State on March 4, 2010. For the week, Wolf was 5-for-7 from the field and 3-for-5 from three-point range. He also hit 4-of-5 free throws over the three game span.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
