Male Scholar Athlete of the Week: October 4-10

Buffalo Matt Schwippert (swimming)
Matt Schwippert (So., 3.148, chemical engineering) won two individual events and a relay and had two second-place finishes at the season-opening WNY Invite. Schwippert swept the backstroke races, winning the 100-yard distance in 52.02 and the 200-yard race in 1:52.01. He placed second in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:56.32 and the 200-yard butterfly in 52.00. He swam the third leg of UB's winning 200-yard medley relay which finished in 1:33.68.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
