Female Scholar Athlete of the Week: April 4-10

Central Michigan: Molly Coldren (softball)
Molly Coldren (Jr., 3.53, language arts) put together a monster week in which she became Central Michigan's sole leader all-time in home runs. The junior batted .727 on the week (8-for-11), with three home runs, a double, seven runs scored and seven RBI for a slugging percentage of 1.636 on the week. Coldren also drew seven walks for an on-base percentage of .833 as she reached base safely in all six games. She became CMU's sole leader in home runs with a two-run shot versus Detroit on Wednesday in game one, before hitting a three-run blast in game two for 22 career home runs. Coldren went 4-for-7 over the weekend versus conference opponents, but was walked six times, as she drove in single runs versus Toledo in game one and game one of the Bowling Green doubleheader. Coldren increased her batting average from .295 to .361 with the torrid week, helping lead the Chippewas to a 6-0 record last week.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
