Andrea Arnold, Western Michigan, Senior

Meet Name: Ice Breaker (W, 81-58 vs Toledo)

Finish in Event: 400m Dash: 1st, 4x400m Relay: 1st

Finishing Time: 400: 56.23; 4x400: 3:54.12

Arnold broke the Ice Breaker meet record in the 400 meter dash with her winning time of 56.23. The previous record had stood since 2007 when the time of 56.54 was set by WMU great Becky Horn. Arnold then helped the 4x400 squad also break the Ice Breaker meet record with a time of 3:54.12. 

 

Field Athlete of the Week

Andrea Hiler, Western Michigan, Senior

Meet Name: Ice Breaker (W, 81-58 vs Toledo)

Finish in Event: Shot put: 1st - 16.60m (54-5.50), Weight Throw: 1st - 16.92m (55-06)

Hiler kicked off 2014 season with a pair of wins in the shot put and the weight throw to help the Broncos defeat Toledo in the annual Ice Breaker meet. Hiler threw a distance of 16.60m (54-5.50) to claim the title in the shot put and then a distance of 16.92m (55-6) to win the weight throw. Hiler accounted for 10 of WMU’s 81 points in the win.
