MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES WRESTLER OF THE WEEK

MAC Wrestler of the Week 
Joe Colon, Northern Iowa, Senior, Clear Lake, Iowa (Clear Lake High School)
 
Northern Iowa senior Joe Colon remains undefeated (6-0) after knocking off No. 2 Tyler Graff of Wisconsin in a 6-0 decision, giving Graff his first loss this season. The 133-pounder is an NCAA national qualifier and had earned bonus points in all his matches leading up to the win against Graff.   Colon was ranked ninth heading into the dual. Now in his second year on the Panther team, he has a 34-4 career record at UNI. He is 1-0 in the MAC, and has yet to lose a dual as a Panther.  His quickest pin this season came in 1 minute, 13 seconds.

Buffalo junior Angelo Malvestuto finished off the Northeast Duals with a perfect 3-0 record for the Bulls, the lone Bull to do so. Malvestuto's most impressive victory came against Clarion as he dominated his opponent, earning a major decision victory of 12-2. Against nationally ranked NC State, Malvestuto earned a 5-2 decision victory over Karonne Jones. Malvestuto was asked to go up a weight class in the Bulls victory over Sacred Heart, as he defeated his opponent in the 285 pound weight class by the score of 3-1. He recorded six takedowns and four escapes during his perfect 3-0 weekend for Buffalo.
