Coming off a 38-24 win at Kent State, the Northern Illinois Huskies remain undefeated and improved to 5-0 on the year and moved up three spots to No. 23 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll. In addition, the Huskies remain ranked No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Northern Illinois extended its winning streak in MAC games to 18 games, its road winning streak to 11 consecutive games and improved to 5-0 overall on the season, which marks the best start to a season since 2003.
Huskies running back Cameron Stingily rushed for a career-high 266 yards and two touchdowns in the win at Kent State. Northern Illinois racked up 698 yards of total offense, which ranks eighth most MAC history in a single game.
Northern Illinois will host Akron this Saturday, Oct. 12 at Huskie Stadium with the opportunity to extend the nation's longest winning streak, 22 games, and set the MAC record for consecutive home victories.
