Coming off a commanding 55-24 win at Purdue, the Northern Illinois Huskies are ranked No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. In addition, the Huskies received 104 votes in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, the most of any football program outside the Top 25.
Northern Illinois completed the non-conference portion of their 2013 schedule and remain undefeated at 4-0. Northern Illinois became the first MAC program to post two victories over Big Ten opponents (Iowa and Purdue) in the same season during the regular season. Also, the Huskies 55-24 win at Purdue tied the Conference mark for the highest point differential over a Big Ten opponent, as the 31 point differential (Toledo 38-7 win over Minnesota, 2001).
Next up for Northern Illinois is a rematch of last year's Marathon MAC Football Championship Game and a visit to Kent State this Saturday, Oct. 5 at 3:30 pm ET. The game will be televised on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.
