Kent State 0, Iowa 6

KENT, Ohio – Kent State (4-4) was unable to upset the No. 10 team in the nation on Sunday (Sept. 22) afternoon, as Iowa (5-3) was able to come away with a 6-0 win.
The Golden Flashes gave up two quick goals two and eleven minutes into the game but then were able to hold the Hawkeyes scoreless for the rest of the first half.  However, Iowa was able to net four goals in a five-minute span to begin the second half to put the game away.
Statistically, Kent State bettered Iowa.  The Golden Flashes had 13 shots and seven corners compared to the Hawkeyes' 12 shots and two corners.  But, eleven of Iowa's shots came on goal whereas Kent State had just five.
Kent State closes out their current five-game home stand on Tuesday (Sept. 24) as they host Ohio State at Murphy-Mellis Field.  Game time is set for 2:00pm.

Central Michigan 0, Maine 2

ORONO, Maine - The Central Michigan field hockey team was unable to score in its 2-0 loss against Maine on Sunday, September 22. 
The Black Bears (4-4) strived to score right off the bat until Holly Stewart responded at the 18:28 mark putting Maine ahead 1-0 in the first half. The goal marked Stewart's fifth of the season and was assisted by Annabelle Hamilton. 
The Chippewas (2-6) struggled to get a shot off in the first half until the 25:58 when Simone Lazar shot the ball wide. CMU had 11 shots with senior forward Bailey McKeon, junior midfielder Mary Alice Moore, and freshman midfielder Maude Stalars combining for six shots on goal. 
With her eighth season start, goalkeeper Sadie Reynolds saved six shots and played all 70 minutes of the game.
Late in the second half, Maine's Danielle Aviani scored her first goal of the season off a back hand in front of the cage at 11 feet. 
CMU will be back in action on Friday, September 27 at 1 p.m. in a neutral site contest versus UC Davis. The contest will be played at Ball State. 

Ball State 2, St. Louis 4

SAINT LOUIS – The Ball State field hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to the Saint Louis Billikens Sunday afternoon. Freshman Lexi Kavanaugh scored both goals for the Cardinals.
Saint Louis got on the board early scoring in the fourth minute. Kavanaugh would register her first goal of the game in the 18th minute when she dribbled through the defense on the right side. The score remained 1-1 going into halftime.
Ball State would strike first in the second half when freshman Mikayla Mooney dribbled through the right side of the defense to find Kavanaugh on the left side. Saint Louis would knot things up in the 59th minute and would then score in the 63rd and 70th minute.
Ball State would shoot 18 shots to Saint Louis’ 19. The Bilikens held the advantage in penalty corners (9-5) and saves (8-3). Ten Cardinals were credited with shots with Bethany Han leading the way with four shots, two of which were on goal.
With the loss the Cardinals fall to 3-4 on the season while Bilikens improve to 1-7.
Ball State will return home to the BSU Turf Field at the Briner Sports Complex on Wednesday, Sept. 25 when it hosts UC-Davis at 3 p.m. The team will also host Vermont on Saturday, Sept. 28 at noon.
