Updated 6/7/2013

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference put a wrap on the 2013 softball season, with the final awards announcement of the year with the recognition of the 12-member Academic All-MAC team as voted by the Faculty Athletic Representatives of the 12 MAC institutions
22 student-athletes found themselves recognized by the Mid-American Conference, including a team high five from Central Michigan.  Representing the Chippewas are second team members Trista Cox, Cory DeLamielleure and CarolAnn Sexauer, and first teamers Macy Merchant and Kara Dornbos.  Dornbos was also the 2013 MAC Championship MVP.
Ohio landed four on the academic team with Caitlin Colvin, Chelsea Hortman, Alyssa Wolfe and new single season homerun record holder, Lauren Gellerman.
Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan and Kent State each placed three student-athletes on the 2013 team.  For the Falcons it was Paige Berger, Hannah Fulk and Paris Imholz; for the Eagles it was Katy Blaharski, Amanda Herron and Amanda Stanton; and for the Golden Flashes it was Jessacca Gironda, Kim Kirkpatrick and 2013 Pitcher of the Year, Emma Johnson.
Northern Illinois had two on the 2013 Academic All-MAC team as Amanda Sheppard and Nicole Gremillion were honored.  Ball State and Toledo each had one student athlete on the team as Amanda Carpenter and Lindsey Tobias  were named for their respective institutions.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
