Cleveland, OH – The Mid American Conference has announced its first Gymnastics All-MAC Team today. A total of 12 individuals were honored to be on the All-MAC First or Second Team. The 12 member All-MAC Team was voted on by head coaches based on student-athletes regular season performance.
The only two making the All-MAC First Team were Rachel Guida of Kent State and Brittney Emmons of Ball State.
Guida is a three-time MAC Specialist of the Week Honoree this season and is ranked first in the MAC, second regionally and 18th nationally on bars. Emmons comes back after suffering a season ending injury in 11-12 season, and ranks nationally in the top 50 on floor.
Also earning First Team honors are juniors Brittany Petzold of Central Michigan, Marie Case of Kent State and Kim Gotlund from Northern Illinois.
Petzold, who ranks 46th nationally in the all-around and Gotlund have all been awarded athletes of the week at least once or more during this season.
Case, the 2012 MAC Gymnast of the Year was named MAC Gymnast of the Week this season three straight weeks from Jan. 30-Feb.13. She has recorded 22 scores of 9.800 or higher this season and has won four of five all-around competitions.
Closing out the All-MAC First Team was the only freshman named to First Team, Western Michigan’s Kayla Weber. Weber was awarded MAC Gymnasts of the Week two weeks in a row this season.
Earning All-MAC Second Team honors was junior Megan Harrington of Bowling Green, the following sophomores: Jamilah Ali of Bowling Green, Halle Morraw and Taylor Noonan of Central Michigan and Anna Willette of Eastern Michigan. Lastly, rounding out the Second Team was lone freshman Khadijah Hudson of Eastern Michigan.
The 2013 MAC Gymnastics Championship hosted by Western Michigan begins tomorrow at approximately 2:00 p.m. in Read Fieldhouse.
