Ball State Visits Minnesota Friday To Round-Out WNIT First Round Action

Women’s National Invitation Tournament (First Round)
Ball State (15-15, 12-4 MAC) at Minnesota (18-13, 7-9 B1G)
March 22 • 8 PM • Ball State leads 1-0
• Ball State advanced straight to the semifinals as the No. 2 seed in last week’s 2013 Mid-American Conference Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio but lost to No. 3 Akron 70-61. This is the fourth time that BSU has played in the WNIT and the first appearance since the 2007 tournament.  Minnesota enters this year’s tournament with an 18-13 overall record and concluded the regular-season with a 7-9 Big Ten Conference record, which earned it a No. 8 seed for the Big Ten Tournament.  Illinois is 16-13 overall and finished 9-7 in the Big Ten Conference. A strong offensive team, the Illini average 70.0 points per game. They are led by a pair of Second-Team All-Big Ten selections in senior forward Karisma Penn and senior guard Adrienne GodBold.
