CLEVELAND, Ohio - Three Mid-American Conference women's basketball players have been named to the 52 player list of All-Regional nominees for the 2013 WBCA Division I All-America Team. Central Michigan's Crystal Bradford, Miami's Courtney Osborn and Toledo's Naama Shafir are three of the six members that make up the Region 4 candidates.
Bradford, Osborn and Shafir all lead their squads in scoring and we're each named to the 2013 All-MAC First Teams and nominees for the 2013 MAC Player of the Year Award. Bradford was also named the 2013 MAC Tournament MVP this past Saturday, when she led the Chippewas to their first NCAA Tournament since 1984.
Joining the players from the MAC, to make-up Region 4, are Jerica Coley of Florida International, Ebony Rowe of Middle Tennessee State and Keena Mays of Southern Methodist.
The selection committee uses an equation to determine a fair number of nominees from each region. The number of Division I institutions in each region is divided by the number of Division I institutions overall to determine a percentage for each region. This percentage is then multiplied by 52 (the total number of desired finalists) to get the number of finalists for each region.
The 2013 WBCA Division I Coaches’ All-America Team will be announced at 1:10 p.m. CT Saturday April 6, during NCAA® Women’s Final Four® Super Saturday festivities in New Orleans Arena.
