Female Scholar Athlete of the Week: February 11 – February 17, 2013
Western Michigan University Nini Sujashvili (W. Tennis)
Nini Sujashvili (Junior, 3.96, Pre-Psychology), Western Michigan dominated both ends of its doubleheader with wins against IUPUI and Bradley. Sujashvili went a perfect 4-0 on the day winning a pair of No. 1 singles matches, a No. 1 doubles match, and a No. 2 doubles match. To open the day, Sujashvili teamed up with Kathleen Hawkins to down IUPUI team of Vanessa Whyte and Rachael Bridegroom 8-0 in the No. 1 doubles match. Sujashvili then went on to defeat Whyte in the No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-1 to give the Broncos a 2-0 advantage. In the second match of the day against Bradley, Sujashvili teamed up with Maggie Remynes to take the No. 2 doubles match against Sarah Rodefeld and Cassia Wojtalik 8-1. To complete her perfect day, Sujashvili defeated Adele Henke 6-4, 6-3.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week’s competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference’s faculty athletic representatives.
