Female Scholar Athlete of the Week: January 7 – January 13, 2013
Eastern Michigan University Briana Emig (Swimming and Diving)
Briana Emig (Freestyle, Senior, 3.93, Psychology and Communication) pushed Eastern to its fourth-straight Mid-American Conference dual-meet victory in the 2012-13 campaign. Emig won a pair of races, while finishing second in another two. The senior took the crown in the 1,000- and 500-freestyles by touching the wall in 10:17.63 and 5:05.80, respectively. She saw runner-up finishes in the 200-freestyle and as a member of the 400-freestyle relay team. Emig completed the 200 in 1:54.26, while her squad took second in the 400-relay in 3:34.33.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week’s competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference’s faculty athletic representatives.
