PHILADELPHIA- Western Michigan women's basketball fell to Temple, 68-41, in its final non-conference game of the season Monday night.

The Broncos open Mid-American Conference play later this week, hosting Eastern Michigan Thursday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. WMU then welcomes Miami three days later.

Sophomore guard Courtney Haley was the only Bronco to reach double digits, coming off the bench to produce 10 points, three shy of her career high. Haley had just two points on the season entering the contest, scoring those off of free throws.

Sophomore forward Marquisha Harris followed Haley with nine points, and had a team-best five rebounds. She also recorded two blocks and had one assist.

WMU, playing its first game since Dec. 28, trailed 35-26 at halftime and managed only 15 points in the second half.

The Broncos (4-9) were held to a season-low 23.6 percent shooting and went 4-for-27 from behind the arc, Haley making two of those three's. The 41 points also tied a season-low, scored at Michigan.

"I am just frustrated, we can't throw the ball in ocean right now," said WMU head coach Shane Clipfell. "We can control two things offense and defense and right now and we aren't doing either of those."

Six-four senior post Victoria Macaulay paced the Owls with a game-high 22 points. Rateska Brown, Tyronna Williams and Erica Covile each had 13 points.

Natasha Thames hauled in 12 boards for the Owls, which held the rebounding advantage, 47-36. Temple (6-8) shot 44.6 percent in the game, outscoring WMU in the paint, 42-8.

The win snapped a six-game losing streak for Temple, which had played its previous six games on the road.
