• Akron heads to Puerto Rico following a 97-53 victory over John Carroll on Monday. Five Zips scored in double figures, including Brian Walsh (18), Deji Ibitayo (16), Alex Abreu (12), Jake Kretzer (12) and Chauncey Gilliam (10). With his six blocked shots against John Carroll, senior center Zeke Marshall needs three swats to pass Eastern Michigan’s Theron Wilson (257, 1992-96 for fourth on the Mid-American Conference career blocked shots list (255). Akron is 47-31 (26-24 in Division I era) all-time in regular season tournaments, including a 12-10 mark under ninth-year head coach Keith Dambrot...Oklahoma State enters the contest with a 1-0 record after defeating UC Davis 73-65 in its season opener on Nov. 9. Le’Bryan Nash and Markel Brown led the Cowboys with 16 points each.

• Buffalo will play the first of three straightgames against host Evansville on Thursday in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. The Bulls will also play Western Illinois (Fri.) and Yale (Sat.).The Bulls are coming off a 95-68 loss at Florida State on Monday night. Buffalo was led by Javon McCrea and Tony Watson who eached  scored 17 points. Tony Watson is shooting 64 percent from beyond the three-point line (7-11) to start the season. The Bulls are looking to avoid their first 0-3 start since the 2003-04 season...Evansville is 0-1 and coming off a 58-49 loss at Notre Dame on Saturday. The Purple Aces are led by Colt Ryan who who is averaging 15 points per game.
