Grand Island, N.Y.
- Toledo claimed its fifth Women's Championship title in school history in record fashion as MAC teams fought it out at the 2012 MAC Cross Championships in Grand Island, N.Y. at Beaver Island State Park. The Rockets scored a conference record-low 24 points and have now won three consecutive conference titles for this first time in school history. The Championship marks the first time that a school has won three consecutive MAC titles since Ohio won five straight crowns from 1987 to 1992.

"Today went really well," Toledo Head Coach Kevin Hadsell said. "I'm really proud of how we were able to handle the conditions. Our whole game plan coming in here was to validate our ranking and to get as many All-MAC runners as possible. This should really set us up nice for the NCAA Regionals in a couple of weeks."

Ohio's Juli Accurso claimed the women's individual title for the second consecutive year in a time of 20.48.4. Toledo's Kaylin Belair finished second with a time of 21:08.7, while teammate Megan Wright took home third place honors with a time of 21:20.5. A total of eight Toledo runners were named to the All-MAC first & second teams. Accurso becomes the fifth runner in MAC history to win back-to-back individual titles.

Miami came in second with 81 points. Ohio followed in third place (92 points), while Central Michigan followed in fourth place (124 points). Eastern Michigan (fifth, 144 points), Akron (sixth, 178 points), Buffalo (seventh, 179 points), Bowling Green (eighth, 206 points), Kent State (ninth, 213 points), Ball State (10th, 267 points), Northern Illinois (11th, 277 points) and Western Michigan (12th, 337 points) rounded out the field.

Toledo's Hadsell was named the MAC Men's Coach of the Year. The honor was selected by the leagues head coaches following the race. It marked the fifth time the honor has been bestowed upon him. He also won the award in 2001, 2002, 2010 & 2011 - three other Rocket conference championships.

The Rockets will now amp up their training to prepare for the NCAA Regional Championships on Nov. 11. Toledo will gun for its third straight NCAA Championship bid at the regional meet.
