Blue Ribbon Analysis
Head Coach: Dan Enos (Michigan State, '91)
2011 Overall/Conference Record: 3-9 (2-6 MAC)
Offense Starters Returning/Lost: 8/3
Defense Starters Returning/Lost: 7/4
After opening with Southeast Missouri State at home, the Chippewas will play host to one of the most anticipated events in program history. Michigan State will be visiting Mount Pleasant on Sept. 8 as part of an in-state series that will see the Spartans play at Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan in future years.

And just think what a win would mean. The Chippewas have three over the Spartans in the last two decades, including a 2009 upset, but that seemed very far away during last season's 45-7 loss at Spartan Stadium.

After that, CMU travels to Iowa, then it's on to a MAC schedule that sees revenge opportunities against Western Michigan at home and Eastern Michigan on the road. The Chippewas must travel to Toledo.
There are too many question marks on this team to consider it a strong contender to win the MAC West, but it doesn't take an overly active imagination to project a significant step forward. Enos has been getting a lot of quality football players from the state of Michigan and is due for some good luck.

If the defensive front seven firms up, the Chippewas could be in the hunt for bowl eligibility.
