Kent State Wins Excellence In Management Cup
MAC Wins Cup For Third Consecutive Year

(College Station, TX) - For the third consecutive year, a MAC member university has won the prestigious Excellence in Management Cup presented by Texas A&M's Laboratory for the Study of Intercollegiate Athletics (LSIA).

Kent State ranked first in this national study of FBS athletic departments that win the most championships in accordance to financial expenditures and is recognized as the most economically efficient athletics program in the country.

Kent State won five MAC championships during the 2011-12 academic year in baseball, women's indoor track and field, women's outdoor track and field, men's golf and women's golf.

For the third consecutive year, the MAC was recognized as the national leader as Akron won the Excellence in Management Cup in 2011 and Kent State in 2010. Also, the MAC had two of the top four athletic programs (4th, Central Michigan) and three of the top 12 (12th, Ohio) in the Excellence in Management Cup as presented by Texas A&M's Laboratory for the Study of Intercollegiate Athletics (LSIA).

The purpose of the Excellence in Management Cup is to determine the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) athletics departments in NCAA Division I that win the most championships in accordance to financial expenditures.

Scores for the Excellence in Management Cup are determined by a formula that incorporates total athletics department expenditures, number of sports sponsored and the number of conference and national championships won.
