MAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kent State's Arlette van Cleeff (El Voorburg, The Netherlands) named MAC Player of the Week
Arlette van Cleeff made the most of the first two games she played in as a Golden Flash by scoring eight points in a two-game span this past week. The freshman forward assisted on two goals during a 9-1 Kent State victory over Southwest Missouri State, and came up with a hat trick in a 5-0 win over Cornell. After one week of action she is now third in the MAC in both goals scored and assists (3) and fourth in the conference in total points (8).

OTHER NOMINATIONS
Keri Beckhorn (Louisville, F, So., Tunkhannock, PA) Scored two goals against Saint Louis, including the game-winner in a 3-1 Louisville victory. She currently leads the conference in goals and points scored.

Janel Spero (Central Michigan, GK, So. Shoreheim, NY) Recorded her second shutout this season against Albany in a 2-0 Central Michigan victory.

MAC FIELD HOCKEY NOTES

SPREADING THE WEALTH
The Mid-American Conference has had four different teams ranked in the STX/NFHCA coaches poll over the last two years (Ball State, Kent State, Louisville and Ohio).

BALL STATE
Ball State is currently starting six freshman and nine underclassmen, while its roster is down to 13 players due to injuries ... The Cardinals will play their fourth consecutive nationally-ranked opponent when the they travel to Michigan this week.

CENTRAL MICHIGAN
Janel Spero recorded her second shutout in four games already this season and three career shutouts ... Central Michigan starts conferecne play on September 15 at Kent State.

LOUISVILLE
The Cardinals were ranked 17th nationally last week in the HockeyPoint! Top 20 poll and 17th in the latest STX/NFHCA coaches poll for the program's first-ever national rankings.

KENT
The Golden Flashes have a 16-game homewinning streak, the longest in school history ... Backup goalkeeper Jessica Creeden became the first true goalkeeper in Kent State history to score when she capitalized on a penalty stroke against Cornell.

MIAMI
Miami will be in competition only once this week when the RedHawks host the Indiana Hoosiers ... The RedHawks are led by Meghan Phalen with six points.

OHIO
Ohio has played some of the toughest competition in the country in its first four games ... The Bobcats have already played three of the participants from the 1999 Final Four (Maryland, Michigan and Connecticut) and a team that is currently ranked 18th in the latest poll STX/NFHCA coaches poll (Michigan State).
