TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) (September 9, 2000) -- Brandon Hefflin returned a fumble recovery 68 yards for a touchdown - part of a four-turnover, three-touchdown blitz in the second
quarter - as Toledo beat Weber State 51-0 on Saturday night.
The Rockets (2-0), still flying high after last week's victory at Penn State, led 14-0 after Tavares Bolden hit Mel Long on a 21-yard scoring pass on the first play of
the second quarter.
After the ensuing kickoff, Hefflin scooped up the fumble and scored.
The next possession for Weber State (1-1) ended when Toledo linebacker Kevin Rollins picked off a pass by Cole Cooper. That led to Chester Taylor's 1-yard
touchdown run.
Cooper was picked off again the next time the Wildcats touched the ball, this time by Corey Morris.
Toledo missed a field goal, but the defense provided two more points when Cooper was sacked in the end zone by defensive lineman Frank Ofili for a safety.
Taylor, who opened the scoring on a 17-yard run, rushed for 92 yards on 22 carries. Bolden completed 14-of-20 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns.
