CLEVELAND (February 2, 2000) -- Kent State University's Nick Magistrelli has been honored as the Pepsi Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 31.
A 184 lb. junior from Maple Heights, Ohio, Magistrelli defeated Buffalo's Josh States, owner of a 19-9 record, by a 6-2 score, and scored a major decision over Brock Warder of Marquette, 12-1. Magistrelli is 18-3 overall,, including 15-1 at 184, and 3-0 in the MAC. Magistrelli led the Golden Flashes to wins over Buffalo (21-9) and Marquette (44-6).

Buffalo's Gary Cooper (165 lb., So., Adams, N.Y.) went 2-0 last week to improve to 29-7 overall and 3-1 in the MAC. Cooper defeated Kent's Nick Nemeth, 12-7, and pinned Marquette's Jake Happeld in 0:57.
Central Michigan's Jeremy Hardman (149 lb., Sr., Constatine, Mich.) won his fourth consecutive match with a pin of Northern Illinois' J.C. Gaunt in 1:43. In his last four matches, Gaunt has two pins and a major decision while improving to 17-10 overall and 1-0 in the MAC.
Northern Illinois' Zach Becker (165, Jr., Panama City, Fla.) had competed in just two matches until last week. After dropping an 11-6 decision to Central Michigan's Vernon Cannon, 11-6, Becker topped the #1 rated MAC wrestler, Ohio's John Wervey, 4-3. Becker is 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the MAC.
Ohio's Brad Wright (133 lb., Jr. Fairfield, Ohio) went 2-0 with wins in matches versus Eastern Michigan's Rocky McKinney (10-2) and Northern Illinois' Marlon Felton (16-0). Wright boosted his record to 19-4 overall and 3-0 in the MAC.
