Sr. Pickerington, Ohio
Ritchey posted his best finish as a RedHawk and led the team for the
first time this season, tying for second place at the Marshall
Invitational. His 217 strokes, one strok shy of his best-ever
three-round sum, made him the top MAC finisher at the Invitational.
Other Top Performances
Ben Curtis (Kent, Sr., Ostrander, Ohio) tied for 14th place at the 2000
Compaq U.S. Collegiate Championships April 7-9. Curtis shot a low round
of 65 on the second day of play, en route to a total of 215 (77-65-73).
He led Kent to a tie for 11th place overall.
Joe Hill (Ohio, Sr., Frankfort, Ohio) tied for 11th place at the
Marshall Invitational with a season-low score of 220. His opening-round
71 tied a season-low and helped Ohio to a tie for fifth place as a team,
marking the Bobcats' fifth top-five finish and eighth top-10 finish in
nine tournaments.
Ashely Wilt (Toledo, Sr., Bucyrus, Ohio) tied for 18th place at the
Marshall Invitational. He shot three rounds for a total score of 222.
His low round was 72.
Team Notes
Kent hosted a handful of the nation's top teams at the 2000 Compaq U.S.
Collegiate Championships in Los Cabos, Mexico. Georgia Tech claimed the
team title with a score of 838. The Golden Flashes tied for 11th place
(903) with TCU against a field that included eight top-10 and 11 top-17
teams. Kent is 13th in the latest MasterCard Poll and 14th in the
current Sagarin Rankings.
Miami posted a second-place finish after cutting its eight-stroke
deficit to four against the tournament-winner Michigan at the Marshall
Invitational. The RedHawks preserved a comfortable hold over second
place, owning a six-stroke edge over third-place finisher Indiana.
Northern Illinois was off to a strong start, led by senior Tim
Countryman, but had to withdraw from the Marshall Invitational on
Saturday, Arpil 8. Due to weather, the tournament was delayed on
Saturday, forcing NIU to withdraw or miss a scheduled flight back to
DeKalb, Ill. Saturday evening.
Toledo shot 899 in three rounds to finish 10th out of 20 teams a the
Marshall Invitational April 7-8. The Rockets were led by senior Ashley
Wilt who shot a three-round total of 222. He tied for 10th place
individually.
Ohio was led by senior Joe Hill for the second week in a row. He posted
his best three-round tournament of the season despite inclement weather
at the Marshall Invitational. Junior Erik Herberth posted his sixth
top-20 finish of the season with a score of 222. Herberth (74.79) and
Hill (74.75) are just .04 strokes apart in their scoring averages.
