DEKALB, Ill. (AP) -- Kevin Melson led a balanced attack with 18 points as Wright State downed Northern Illinois 73-66 on Tuesday night.
Israel Sheinfeld and Jesse Deister added 16 points apiece for Wright State, while Vernard Hollins had 11.
The Raiders (2-0) led most of the first half but the Huskies (0-3) took a 36-34 lead near the end of the half. However, Tyson Freeman hit a three-pointer at the
buzzer to put the Raiders ahead 37-36 at intermission.
Wright State scored the first five points of the second half and Northern could get no closer than four points the rest of the way.
Mike Brown scored 18 points to lead the Huskies, while Leon Rodgers added 17 points and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds.
