O'Dell won his first collegiate tournament individual title at the Kentucky Johnny Owens Invitational on Sunday. The senior captain posted a three-round total of 211 with a low round of 70. He has led the Herd in stroke average for three out of his four seasons at Marshall.

Other Top Performances

Brent Goulding (EMU, Jr., Peterbrough, Ontario) posted his fifth top-10 finish of the year, and third straight of the spring at the Johnny Owens Invitational. He tied for eighth place individually with a score of 220. Goulding leads the Eagles (as he has all season) with a scoring average of 73.48.

Joe Hill (Ohio, Sr., Frankfort, Ohio) finished 12th at the Johnny Owens Invitational in Kentucky to help the Bobcats to a fourth-place finish, marking the second time this season he led Bobcat golfers in a tournament. It was also his fourth Top 15 finish of the season. His 221 is his low three-round tournament of the season, while his third-round 71 matches his season low round.

Team Notes

Kent tops the MAC in the current MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings and the lastest Sagarin Ratings. The Golden Flashes are ranke 13th in the MasterCard Rankings and 11th by Sagarin. Senior All-American Ben Curtis ranks 13th individually in the MasterCard poll and eighth in the Sagarin ratings. He has placed among the top 10 in each of Kent's seven tournaments, including three second-place finishes. Last summer, Curtis won three of four matches to help the United States team to victory at the Palmer Cup, before advancing to the semifinals of the U.S. Amateur where he lost to eventual champion David Gossett of the Texas.

Jumping three places from Friday's finish, the Miami golf team ended its stint at the Johnny Owens Invitational in ninth place. JD Goering and Mike Sabo led the RedHawks with their nine-over par finishes to tie for 23rd place. Goering shot 225 (76-75-74) in his first-ever appearance for the RedHawks, while Sabo, who also tallied 225 strokes, shot 76, 76 and 73 in respective rounds. As a team, Miami totaled 903 strokes to finish at 39 over.

Ohio finished fourth at the Johnny Owens Invitationalmarking the Bobcat's fourth top-four finish and seventh top-10 mark in eight tournaments.
