Richards captured two wins at No. 1 singles over All-MAC players from last year. Richards defeated Bowling Green's Abby Bratton in straight sets and bounced back from a loss in the first set against Ball State's Gena Tranquada to post 7-5 wins in the final two sets. The two first flight wins extended her win streak to eight and improved her record to 8-2 in the No. 1 spot. Richards also recorded an 8-4 win in doubles action at the No. 2 spot against Ball State and suffered an 8-5 No. 2 doubles loss to Bowling Green.

Marshall's Sheela Cabiling (Jr., Bremerton, Wa.) went 2-0 at No. 4 singles and 2-0 in doubles, including a 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 comeback win versus BGSU's Deidee Bissinger ... Eastern Michigan's Rebecca Hawkins (Fr., NSW, Australia-Henry Kendall) went 2-0 with conference wins against Buffalo (6-0, 6-0) and Akron (6-0, 6-2) ... Bowling Green's Deidee Bissinger (Sr., Kettering, Ohio) went 1-1 at No. 4 singles and 2-0 at No. 2 doubles (see additional note below) ... Western Michigan's Larissa Chinwah (So., Sydney, Australia) defeated Georgia State's Mojca Pavlinic 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 and lost to Georgia Tech's Bobbie Guthrie at No. 2, 7-5, 6-4, and also went 1-1 in doubles.
Notes
Bowling Green's Deidee Bissinger became the school's all-time winningest player last week with three wins. Bissinger boosted her career total to 146 combined wins, moving past Cindy Mikolajewski (143 from 1994-97). Bissinger's 75 singles wins is second most in Falcon history, as is her 71 doubles triumphs. She teamed with Meghan Rhodes in a doubles win in a 5-2 BGSU win over Miami, the first time the Falcons have defeated the RedHawks since the 1974-75 season.
