MAC Pepsi Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week: Tara Perrier (Buffalo), Vershaun Jones (Central Michigan)

MAC Pepsi Offensive Player of the Week
Tara Perrier, Buffalo (Jr., G)
Aurora, Ontario (Aurora HS)

Perrier came off the bench to score 26 points and grab seven rebounds, both career highs, and helped erase a 17 point deficit to give Buffalo an 85-81 win at Bowling Green. A junior who entered the week averaging 6.5 points per game, Perrier came in the game for the injured Tiffany Bell and connected on 9-of-14 shots, including 7-of-9 from three-point range. Earlier in the week, Perrier scored seven points against Ohio.

Other nominees: Katie Hank, Akron -- Averaged 14 points and three rebounds for the Zips in two games and scored a game-high 20 points against Kent.

Francine Miller, Bowling Green -- Tallied a career-best 28 points versus Central Michigan and averaged 23 points, seven rebounds and three assists in two contests.

Alicia Rozak, Central Michigan -- Scored a career-high 21 points in the Chippewas' win over Ball State. For the week, she averaged 14.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 28 minutes of action.

Carrie Nance, Kent -- Averaged 16.5 points, four rebounds and three assists as the Golden Flashes won games against Eastern Michigan and Akron.

Heather Cusick, Miami -- Collected 13 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 4.5 steals per contest as the RedHawks split games with Akron and Toledo.

Charbea Haller, Northern Illinois -- Scored a career-best 23 points versus Marshall and averaged 19 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in two games.

Adriane Bryant, Toledo -- Averaged 15.5 points and 2.5 assists per game. Recorded back-to-back career highs in points of 15 and 16 points, respectively.

Kristin Koetsier, Western Michigan -- Averaged 22.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in wins against Marshall and Toledo. Shot 52 percent from the floor.

MAC Pepsi Defensive Player of the Week
Vershaun Jones, Central Michigan (So., F)

Vershaun Jones helped Central Michigan to a 2-1 mark last week after averaging 13.3 rebounds, 11.7 points and 3.1 steals in 35 minutes of action. Jones had a career-high 19 rebounds -- 15 of them on the defensive end -- in the Chippewas' 74-69 win over Ball State, in addition to scoring 15 points and dishing out seven assists. Her rebound total was the second-most in the MAC this year and was also the second-highest total in school history. She also tied a school record with nine steals versus Wisconsin-Milwaukee, to go along with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Other nominees: Sherry Kahle, Bowling Green -- Averaged 11.5 rebounds, 7.5 points and 1.5 steals last week for the Falcons, who split with Central Michigan and Buffalo. Had a career-high 14 rebounds against the Chippewas.

Sonia Ortega, Buffalo -- Collected 17 rebounds over a two-game span and averaged 11.5 points as the Bulls won a pair of games against Ohio and Bowling Green.

Stephanie Smiley, Eastern Michigan -- Averaged 14 points, seven rebounds and 2.5 steals as the Eagles split two games last week.

Alana Bader, Kent -- For the week averaged 12 points, 5.5 rebounds, three steals and one block. She had a season-high nine boards and tied a career-high with two blocks against Eastern Michigan.

Heather Cusick, Miami -- Collected an average of 13 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 4.5 steals per contest as the RedHawks split games with Akron and Toledo.

Jessica Shattuck, Northern Illinois -- Averaged 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game for the Huskies, who split games with Marshall and Eastern Michigan. Also averaged 4.0 points per contests.

Jennifer Markwood, Toledo -- Grabbed a season-best 13 rebounds in the Rockets' win against Miami. For the week, she averaged 13 points, 11 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in two games.

Danielle Mueller, Western Michigan -- Pulled down 29 rebounds in two games, including 18 in an overtime win against Toledo. Also averaged 10 points.
