Updated 11/6/2000
The Kent State University field hockey team (19-3, 10-0 MAC) had a fast start out of the gate and held Ohio University (10-10, 6-4 MAC) scoreless for the second straight week to defeat the Bobcats 3-0 in the Mid-American Conference Championship game. Kent State has now won 18 games in a row and will head to its third straight NCAA Tournament.

Sophomore Helen Jerdan (Glasgow, Scotland/Craigholm School) scored three minutes later on a lifted penalty corner from sophomore Kristen Clayton (Trevose, Pa./Bensalem) and senior Meagan Class (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin). Freshman Arlette van Cleeff (El Voorburg, The Netherlands) ended the scoring in the first half and the game on a tip from Brouwer with 3:39 left in the first half.

Junior Jodi Lume (DePew, N.Y./Lancaster Central) had five saves to earn the win and her eighth shutout of the season, which ties her for third place on the Kent State single-season shutout list.

The representatives on the MAC All-Tournament Team were Kari Roche and Angie Snedden from Miami University, Danielle Barr and Pip Sanders from the University of Louisville, Andrea Pettinatto, Courtney Foster, and Jen Watt from Ohio University and Brouwer, Clayton, Jerdan and senior Terri Waseleski (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) from Kent State.
