Three Mid-American Conference schools had their 2000 women's soccer
recruiting classes ranked in the top 100 nationally by Soccer Buzz
magazine. Central Michigan University and Marshall University, both
ranked in the top ten in their respective regions, were joined by the
University at Buffalo on the national list.Central Michigan was ranked
ninth in the Great Lakes region while Marshall was ranked ninth in the
Mid-Atlantic region. Buffalo garnered Honorable Mention honors in the
Northeast region.
Central Michigan was ranked higher than five Big Ten schools with a
recruiting class that includes one all-American, Allison Campbell a
transfer from the University of Tennessee, and four high school
all-state selections. This honor marks the second year in a row the
Chippewas have been recognized with a top-ten recruiting class in the
Great Lakes region.
Marshall bolstered its recruiting class this year by adding an
all-American, three all-state honorees and four all-conference players
to the 2000 Thundering Herd squad. Marshall signed Minnesotas Amanda
McMahon, who was named the states "Ms. Soccer" and was recognized as an
all-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association.
Buffalo signed four all-state selections and two All Greater Rochester
honorees in this years recruiting class. All six of these recruits
were also participants in the Empire State Games.
