DEKALB, Ill. (AP) -- Chester Taylor ran for 230 yards and two touchdowns Saturday as Toledo beat Northern Illinois 38-24.
Taylor's second touchdown, a 73-yard romp just before halftime gave the Rockets (8-1, 4-1 Mid-American Conference) the lead for good at 28-24. The Huskies (5-4, 3-2) had rallied from a
Taylor, who ran 30 times, scored first on a 1-yard run in the first quarter.
Thomas Hammock carried 26 times for 160 yards and two TDs for Northern. Both his scores were 1-yard plunges.
Toledo's Tavares Bolden was 21-of-26 passing for 226 yards and two TDs. He also ran for a touchdown.
Bolden hit Greg Grothous with a 5-yard touchdown pass for the game's opening score and found Mel Long for an 11-yard TD pass in the final quarter.
Huskies quarterback Chris Finlen was 13-of-26 passing for 193 yards.
Todd France nailed a 45-yard field goal for Toledo while Northern's Steve Azar had a 23-yarder.
Toledo gained 561 yards total offensive to 358 for Northern. The game saw only two turnovers, a lost fumble by the Rockets and an interception thrown by the Huskies.
