Louisville's Beckhorn Named Field Hockey Player of the Week

Keri Beckhorn is this week's MAC Player of the Week after helping Louisville win three straight to finish out the regular season. Beckhorn had nine points last week, accumulating points in all three games. The sophomore forward scored the game-winner in overtime against Radford and scored two goals against Central Michigan. Against Ball State she assisted on all three Louisville goals. She finished the regular season with 11 goals and 31 points.

OTHER NOMINATIONS
Meagan Class (Kent State, MF/Back, Sr., Harrisburg, Pa.)
Scored two goals against Ohio to help Kent State finish 10-0 in conference action.

Beth Young (Miami, Forward, Jr., Toledo, Ohio)
Scored two of Miami's four goals and had an assist against Ball State for five points in one game.

MAC FIELD HOCKEY NOTES

TOURNAMENT NOTES
Kent State will be the number one seed in the MAC Tournament for the first time since 1992 when they beat Ball State in the championship game ... Ohio will host the tournament for the first time ever ... Before this season, Ball State had never been lower than a two seed in the MAC tournament.

BALL STATE
Ball State owns a 24-7 all-time record in the MAC Tournament for a .774 winning percentage ... Ball State has advanced to the championship in all but one year, 1987.

CENTRAL MICHIGAN
For the third year in a row, Central Michigan will face Miami in the first round of the MAC tournament. The Chippewas have won the previous two tournament matches, but split with the RedHawks this year in regular season action.

LOUISVILLE
Louisville set a new school record with 13 wins this season ... The Cardinals have now defeated every MAC school at least once since entering the conference in 1994, with a 2000 conference mark of 5-5.

KENT STATE
Kent State finished 10-0 in MAC play for the first time in school history ... Kent State's 16-game winning streak is second only to the 22-game winning streak set in the 1991 season.

MIAMI
The RedHawks won two games in a row this weekend for the first time this season ...Miami will face Central Michigan in the first round of the tournament for the third year in a row ... The RedHawks were led on offense this week by Beth Young who had five points against Ball State in a 4-3 overtime victory.

OHIO
Lauren Mazziotto's 12 assists tie her for third highest in a season at Ohio ... 29 of 36 goals, 32 of 37 assists, 90 of 109 points and all nine game-winning goals are attributed to underclassmen this season for Ohio.
