Central Michigan's Kinney and Northern Illinois' Davidson Honored as MAC Pepsi Players of the Week

Cleveland, Ohio -- Central Michigan's Tina Kinney was named the Mid-American Conference Pepsi Pitcher of the Week and Northern Illinois' Tara Davidson was named the Mid-American Conference Pepsi Hitter of the Week for the week of March 14.

MAC Pepsi Pitcher of the Week - Central Michigan's Tina Kinney ( P, Sr., Glendale, Calif.) Kinney went 3-0 last week in four starts, picking up back-to-back shut-out wins. Against Saint Mary's (California) she struck out six batters and gave up only four hits in her first shut-out of the week. At the National Invitational Tournament in Sunnydale, Calif., Kinney picked up two more wins. She struck out six more batters in her shut-out win over Baylor while giving up only two hits and holding Georgia Tech to five hits and two unearned runs. Kinney struck out a total of 17 batters in 24 innings of work and picked up her 400th career strikeout over the week.

MAC Pepsi Hitter of the Week - Northern Illinois' Tara Davidson ( OF, Sr., Rockford, Ill.) Davidson hit .643 over the week at the Kentucky Invitational to help the Huskies advance to the championship game. She made the all-tournament team by going 9-for-14 from the plate, driving in one run and scoring one run. She picked up at least one hit in all four games, with three multiple-hit games, incuding a 3-for-3 performance against Kentucky and a 3-for-4 performance in the championship game. The senior right fielder was able to reach base 10 times in 15 plate appearances for an on-base percentage of .667.

Pitcher of the Week Nominations:

Akron's Lisa Keenan (P, So., Paradise, Calif.) struck out 8 batters in 18.1 innings of work with a 1-1 record at the Auburn Invitational

Bowling Green's Jessie Milosek (P, So., Brighton, Mich.) did not allow a run in 14 innings of action. Picked up a win in six-hit shut-out of Stetson and picked up a save against Buffalo.

Marshall's Natasha Johnson (P, Sr., Chesterfield, Va.) held Morehead State to three hits and one unearned run while striking out 10 batters.

Miami's Amber Arnold (P, So., Dana Point, Calif.) struck-out 14 batters in 10 innings of work with a 0.00 earned-run average. Went 0-2, but all of her runs were unearned in a 1-0 loss to Creighton and a 2-0 loss to Indiana.

Northern Illinois' Christy Dalton (P, Sr., Long Grove , Iowa) threw a complete-ganme one-hitter against Butler and struck out 16 batters in 15.1 innings of work.

Hitter of the Week Nominations:

Akron's Tracee McCoy (2B, Fr., Akron, Ohio) went 4-for-10 at the Auburn Invitational with three RBI and one run scored.

Bowling Green's Angie Domschot (2B, Jr., Toledo, Ohio) led the Falcons with a .440 batting average as BGSU won seven of eight games. She scored ten runs last week after going 11-fot-25 from the plate.

Central Michigan's Hope Robertshaw (3B, Jr., LaCrescenta, Calif.) was named to the all-tournament team at the National Invitational Tournament after hitting .353 with one double, one triple and two RBI.

Marshall's Karri Britt (C, Fr., Huntington, W. Va.) went 3-fot-6 with a double and one run scored against Morehead State.

Miami's Nicki Pelfrey (IF/C, So., Fremont, Ohio) led the RedHawks with a .500 batting average and a slugging percentage of 1.125. She collected four hits, including one homerun and two doubles with two runs and two RBI.
