Cleveland, Ohio (March 10) -- The Mid-American Conference office announced that the 2000 MAC Football Championship game will be played in Huntington, W.Va., on the weekend of December 1-2. Specific date and time of the game has not been finalized.
"We hope that the momentum and excitement of our first three years in Huntington, and particularly last year's thriller, sets a great stage for our 2000 football championship," said MAC Commissioner Rick Chryst.
The game has been held at Marshall Stadium since its inception in 1997. Last year's game featured the second most-watched college football game ever on ESPN2, as Marshall defeated Western Michigan, 34-30.
In the first three years of the MAC Championship game, a total of 84,175 fans, or an average of 28,058, have attended the games. In 1997 and 1998, Marshall defeated Toledo for the league title.
