Kraft Becomes Sponsor Of MAC Women's Basketball Tournament

CLEVELAND MAC Properties, the marketing arm for the Mid-American Conference, announced today that Kraft Foods has become the title sponsor of the MAC Womens Basketball Tournament. The 2001 Kraft MAC Womens Basketball Tournament will be held March 6, 9-10, 2001 at Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

The partnership, which is a two-year deal, is a fully integrated sponsorship consisting of television and print ads, signage, and sampling opportunities. Additionally, Kraft will present two $1,000 educational scholarships to students currently enrolled at a MAC institution during halftime of the womens basketball championship game. Kraft will also help support the MACs efforts to recognize National Girls and Women in Sports Day on each of the 13 MAC campuses.

Kraft was an associate partner for the 2000 First Energy MAC Mens Basketball Tournament and extended their relationship to include the womens tournament this year.

Several Kraft brands have shown interest in both the women and mens basketball tournaments at Gund Arena, including: Starbucks, Easy Mac, General Foods International Coffees, Hot Grape Nuts, Jello, and Cheez Whiz.

Rick Chryst, commissioner of the MAC, is excited about the new partnership. As we look to the 20th anniversary of the MAC Womens Basketball Tournament, this is a truly significant moment to welcome Kraft as the title sponsor of the event for the next two years. What is most exciting to me is the commitment of Kraft to MAC womens basketball not only for one great week in March, but more importantly for its intent to support our programs during the regular-season as well.
