Pepsi Female Athlete of the Week
Bowling Green- Nancy Simpson - Senior - Yorktown, Virginia
Had three first place finishes and three second-place finishes this week. She took first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:07.95, the fourth-fastest time in the conference this year, the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Her time of 0:58.31 in the 100 backstroke is the fastest time in the conference this season. Her second-place finishes came in the 400 Medley Relay, 200 IM (2:12.52) and the 200 Medley Relay. Her two first-place finishes against Illinois-Chicago lifted Bolwing Green to its first victory of the season.

Northern Illinois - Mick Coyne - Junior - Victoria, Australia
Posted five victories over the week, including three at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay which became pool records. He finished first in the 1000 free with a time of 9:39.80, one of his three pool records. His time of 1:54.21 in the 200 IM is the second-best conference time this season, second only to himself. His pool record of 1:52.90 in the 200 backstroke is the fastest time to come out ot the MAC this season, and his 0:53.26 in the 100 bacstroke is the second-fastest time in the conference this season.
Other Notable Male Performances
Bowling Green - Andy Jenkins -Four first-place finishes in the 400 Free Relay, 200 Medley Relay, 50 Freestyle (0:21.61) and 100 Freestyle (0:48.31). Also finished second in the 400 Medley Relay and the 100 Free.
Ohio - Brian Billips -Finished first with an NCAA-qualifying score of 300.85 in the Three-Meter Diving Event against Denison.
Toledo - Bryan Franzen - Had a first-place finish in the One-Meter with a score of 275.10.
Other Notable Female Performances
Ball State - Janene Heaton - won the 200 breatstroke in a time of 2:25.43, helped the 400 Medley Relay team to a second-place finish against Indiana. Also posted the fastest 200 IM finish in Ball State dual meet history with a time of 2:08.67.
Buffalo - KimTheetge - Broke the St. Bonaventure pool record in the 100 breastroke with a time of 1:06.88.
Northern Illinois - Ann Schmitt - Won four events over the weekend including two wins in the 500 freestyle on consecutive days. She also took firsts in the 1000 yard freestyle and the 200 yard freestyle.
Ohio - Stacye Winemiller - Had an NCAA qualifying score of 275.40 in the One-Meter Diving Event.
Toledo - Mia Blignaut - Finished first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:36.32 and helped the 400 Medley Relay team to a first-place finish over Illinois-Chicago.
