The University of Kentucky men's soccer team will face defending national
champion Indiana on Sunday, Nov. 21, in the opening round of the 1999 NCAA
Soccer Tournament, championship organizers announced Monday night.
"Indiana's a tough team," UK Coach Ian Collins said. "But in a 32-team
draw, every team is tough. Our players have worked for this all year,
though, and I know they'll continue to work hard over the next week to get
ready for the match."
The Hoosiers (16-3) are coming off a 2-1 double-overtime win over Penn
State in the Big Ten final, while the Cats (13-6-1) enter the match riding
a four-match win streak.
UK and IU met earlier this season in Bloomington with Indiana coming out
4-2 winners. IU leads the all-time series between the two schools 6-1. UK's
lone victory came in 1995, a 1-0 win in Bloomington.
