DEKALB, Ill. (AP) (October 7, 2000) -- Chris Finlen passed for 153 yards and two touchdowns as
Illinois beat Central Florida 40-20 on Saturday.
The Huskies (3-2) outscored the Golden Knights (3-3) 26-0 in the second and third
quarters to go ahead 26-7.
Central Florida's Ryan Schneider was 30-of-40 passing for 301 yards and two TDs, both
to Tyson Hinshaw in the final quarter. The first score was an 11-yard
pass and the last was a 35-yarder with 3:12 left. Schneider was intercepted once and
the Knights lost six fumbles.
Edward Mack had opened the scoring with a 4-yard run for the Knights.
Finlen hit Justin McCariens with a 40-yard scoring pass in the second quarter, then
found Matt Dunker on a 2-yard TD aerial in the final period.
Northern Illinois' Thomas Hammock led all rushers with 143 yards on 34 carries and one TD.
He scored on a 2-yard run in the second quarter.
Steve Azar kicked a 44-yard field goal and Buster Sampson returned a fumble recovery
24 yards for a TD for Northern Illinois.
