YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) (Oct. 7, 2000) -- Chester Taylor ran for 124 yards and three first-half touchdowns to power Toledo past Eastern Michigan 42-14 on Saturday.
Antwon McCray added 106 yards and a 1-yard TD run in the third quarter for the Rockets (5-1, 2-1 Mid-American).
Toledo had 26 first downs to nine by the Eagles (1-5, 0-2), a 404-172 margin in net offensive yards and a 39:53-20:07 advantage in possession time. The
Rockets also converted 13 of 20 third-down opportunities.
Toledo's opening drive ended with Taylor's 39-yard touchdown run with 12:26 left in the first quarter. Eastern tied it on Walter Church's 5-yard pass to Kenny
Christian with 8:16 left in the period.
Taylor then scored on 1-yard runs 1:51 apart late in the first and early in the second quarter. The Rockets scored three more unanswered touchdowns before
Eastern closed out the scoring on Troy Edwards' 22-yard pass to Kevin Walter with 1:48 left to play.
Toledo's Tavares Bolden completed 15 of 23 passes for 119 yards, including a 4-yard TD toss to Donta Greene 17 seconds before halftime.
Church completed 11 of 18 passes for 73 yards and Edwards was 3-of-4 for 33 yards for the Eagles. Idris Wells carried four times for 42 yards.
