KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) (Sept. 30, 2000) -- Jeff Welsh passed for 332 yards and connected with Josh Bush for the go-ahead touchdown as Western Michigan beat Ohio
23-10 on Sept. 30.
Robert Sanford carried 22 times for 124 yards for the Broncos (4-1, 2-0 Mid-American)
and moved into third place on Western's career rushing list. His 8-yard
touchdown run, the 29th of his career, came with 6:43 left to play and gave the Broncos
their final margin.
Western finished with 470 offensive yards to Ohio's 293, but was hurt by three
fumbles and Welsh's two interceptions.
The Bobcats (2-3, 0-2) took a 10-6 lead on Dontrell Jackson's 75-yard scoring pass to
Chad Brinker with 11:46 left in the third quarter.
Western moved ahead to stay two minutes later on Welsh's 13-yard TD pass to Bush.
The Broncos padded their lead when Brad Selent kicked a 44-yard field
goal with 9:05 left in the fourth quarter, his third of the game and 47th of his
career - good for second place on Western's career list.
Jackson finished with just four completions in eight attempts for 116 yards.
He led Ohio rushers with 58 yards on 18 carries.
The Broncos' Steve Neal caught seven passes for 113 yards.
