Eastern Michigan to Host Women's Soccer Tournament

The semifinals and the finals for the Mid-American Conference Women's Soccer Tournament will be held in Ypsilanti, Michigan hosted by Eastern Michigan University after their victory over Kent on Nov. 2.

Eastern Michigan defeated Kent 5-0 Tuesday afternoon to remain the top seed in the MAC tournament. Eastern Michigan's Sarah Willis now has 11 shoutouts on the season. The Eagles will play Ohio, the number five seed, in the semifinals. Ohio had the only upset in the quarterfinals by defeating Buffalo 2-1 in double-overtime. Ohio's winning goal was scored by Jen Barber. Both of Ohio's goals were assisted by Lori Spitler.

Central Michigan, the number two seed, defeated last year's tournament champion, Northern Illinois 2-1 this afternoon. The Chippewas' Emilie Villemonte scored the winning goal with four minutes left in regulation. Central Michigan will play the number three seed Miami on Friday, November 5. Miami beat Western Michigan 1-0 in overtime this afternoon. Miami's match-winner was scored by freshman Danielle Berkemeier with one minute left in the first overtime.

The first game on Friday will take place at noon and will be followed with a 2 p.m. match to conclude the semi-finals. On Sunday, the championship game will begin at noon with the winner advancing to the NCAA tournament.
