RedHawks Advance to Second Round with 64-51 Victory over EMU

    YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) (March 1, 2000) -- Anthony Taylor scored 23 points, including making 10-of-11 free throws, as Miami University beat Eastern Michigan 64-51 on March 1 in the first round of the MAC tournament.

    It marked the second straight time that the Eagles (15-13) had lost to the RedHawks (13-14) and went to the free-throw line less than half as many times. The RedHawks were 18-of-22 from the free-throw line while Eastern was 6-of-10.

    Miami, which led 26-23 at the half, also had a 31-29 rebounding edge and outshot the Eagles 42.2 percent to 39.2 percent.

    Jason Stewart added 17 points for Miami. Calvin Warner had 20 points and seven rebounds for Eastern, while Adam Hess scored 12 points.
