23:19 remaining in regulation was the deciding factor in the Bobcats (10-6,
5-1 MAC) win over the #14 Ball State Cardinals (10-4, 5-1 MAC)which lifted
the Ohio Bobcats into a first place tie in the Mid American Conference. The
Bobcat win also ended the Cardinals 64 game regular season MAC winning
streak.
The Bobcats carried a 2-0 advantage into halftime after Jenn Watt scored
only 2:23 into the game. Andrea Pettinato added another goal for the
Bobcats, off a Watt assist, with 7:42 remaining in the half, to give the
Bobcats a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
The Bobcats weren't done there. Watt scored what proved to be the winning
goal with 23:19 remaining. The Cardinals fought back with Sally Northcroft,
the nation's leading scorer, scoring two goals, the first assisted by
Heather Weinhold with 7:33 remaining and the second on a penalty stroke with
3:12 remaining in regulation. However, the Bobcats hung on to prevail with a
3-2 win.
Ohio (10-6, 5-1 MAC) hosts Central Michigan (2-9, 2-3 MAC) tomorrow 10/16 at
Shafer Street Field in the last home game of the season.
